Details & Itinerary
Day 1 – Entebbe:
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for overnight stay.
Days 2 – Kibale National Park:
After breakfast drive through scenic countryside to Kibale National park. In the afternoon, you will take a guided forest trek and and you can expect to see upto nine primate species that call this park home.
Days 3 – Kibale National Park:
This morning, you will take another walk in the depths of the lush green forest in search of primates. There are nine primates living in the forest, these include, vervet, red-tailed, L’Hoest’s, blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey, red colobus, black and white colobus, olive baboon, and the chimpanzee.
Days 4 – Queen Elizabeth National Park:
After breakfast drive to the breath-taking surrounds of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive offers fantastic views of crater lakes, valleys and the glaciated peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains. Boasting one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any reserve in the world, Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to 95 recorded mammal species as well as more than 600 types of birds. In the afternoon, you can relax at your hotel or explore the park on a game drive.
Days 5 – Queen Elizabeth National Park:
After breakfast enjoy game drives in the park to see the variety of game and bird species the park has to offer. You can also enjoy a shared boat trip on the Kazinga Channel to view some of the largest concentration of hippos in the world.
Days 6 – Ishasha Wilderness Camp:
After breakfast drive through the Queen Elizabeth National Park to the Ishasha region for a game drive where the park’s famous tree climbing lions can sometimes be seen resting in the shady branches of the large fig trees in the area.
Days 7 – Bwindi Forest National Park:
After breakfast drive through the scenic countryside to Bwindi Forest National Park. Bwindi, one of the richest ecosystems in East Africa, is home to over 120 mammals, 345 species of birds, 200 species of butterflies, and 160 species of trees. In the afternoon you can relax in your lodge, enjoy forest walks, visit a local school or orphanage or the Batwa pygmy village.
Days 8 – Bwindi Forest National Park:
Strap on your hiking boots for a full day of adventure. Hike through the rainforest accompanied by professional guide and trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family. The hike is physically demanding but the beauty of the forest and sightings of the mountain gorillas makes the trekking worthwhile.
Days 9 – Travel to Rwanda:
From Bwindi, drive through rural villages to the border of Rwanda. On arrival enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure and prepare for another challenging but equally memorable adventure tomorrow.
Days 10 & 11 – Volcanoes National Park:
Hike through the rainforest accompanied by professional guide and trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family. Savour every second as you watch them foraging, playing, teasing each other, eating or slumbering in an uncanny resemblance to ourselves.
When not trekking for gorillas, you can discover the playful and inquisitive nature of the golden monkey. Unique to the Virunga Mountains range, these delightful golden monkeys are an endangered species. Rwanda and Uganda are the only two countries where visitors have the chance of trekking to see them up close.
You can also take time to visit the local community and engage in the culture of the area, visiting a coffee plantation or a local traditional homestead.
Days 12 – Kigali / Depart:
After breakfast, enjoy an optional visit to local markets and craft centers or the genocide museum before transferring to Kigali International Airport for your departing flight.
